Proverbs 31 is a precious passage. There is a reason why familiar passages are familiar. Nevertheless, preaching and teaching to women should not be confined to Proverbs 31 or even to 1 Timothy 2, 1 Peter 3, and Titus 2. All of the Bible is for all women. All of its commandments and all of its promises are for all of God’s daughters. We need to champion less for Proverbs 31 women and more for all-of-the-Bible women.
All of God’s promises are for all of God’s daughters.
While Scripture establishes a male-led church, it is also clear that women are equal heirs of grace. Their claim to the inheritance and promises of God is just as binding as any first-born son. Here’s what God’s Word says about the daughter of God.
SHE SHALL INHERIT ALL THINGS
“[She] that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be [her] God, and [she] shall be my [daughter].” (Revelation 21:7)
She that has a profound inner strength underlying her quiet and meek demeanor; she that wages war with the devil, with fierce and unrelenting courage; she that prevails in prayer for her home, husband, and children; tell her — she shall be my daughter and shall inherit all things.
SHE IS STRONG IN THE LORD
“Finally, my [sisters], be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10)
She who wields a double-edged sword to push back the the forces of evil at her workplace, in her community, and at her child’s school; she who carries high the banner of holiness in her home; she who is known, not for her vain adornment, jewels, eyeliner, or perfect figure, but for standing above all else; tell her — she will stand indeed!
SHE IS BORN OF GOD
“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin…[she] cannot sin, because [she] is born of God.” (1 John 3:9)
She who is repulsed by the thought of betraying her husband; she who looks upward, not outward to judge, gossip, and criticize others; she who rejects cultural lies; tell her — she is born of Me.
SHE IS NOT ALONE IN TEMPTATION
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to [women]: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
She who knows her frame, that she is dust; she who seeks the approval of God before the attention of others; she who relies upon the Lord every moment for life, breath, and all things; tell her — I will make her victorious.
SHE IS PROMISED WISDOM
“If any of you lack wisdom, let [her] ask of God, that giveth to all [women] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given [her].” (James 1:5)
She who trusts the Lord to choose between public school, private school, or home school for her children; she who seeks guidance before working outside the home; she who relies not on her own understanding but acknowledges God in everything; tell her — she is the recipient of my infinite wisdom.
SHE IS AN ADOPTED DAUGHTER
“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of [daughters] by Jesus Christ to himself…wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:5-6)
She who does not seek acceptance from her children, a boyfriend, or husband more than she rests in her acceptance in Christ; she who is free from bondage to who is fittest on the grocery store magazine racks; she who ignores Instagram’s most followed; tell her — she is embraced by the Perfect One.
SHE IS KEPT IN PERFECT PEACE
“Thou wilt keep [her] in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because [she] trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3)
She who casts her anxieties upon the One who cares for her; she who hopes in Him when her soul is downcast; she who washes in His healing waves and billows; tell her — I will restore peace to her heart.
Daughters, these promises are for you. Claim them. Share them. Live them.
